Overcoming boredom While Drum Exercises

| comments (2)

One of the problems that will be faced by all the drummers are feeling tired during practice. In the early years, there are several reasons why we may feel bored.
First of all, exercise for beginners requires dedication because it is so elementary. In this level, maintaining the interest becomes a difficult thing. But students who successfully completed the first year of learning means have passed the toughest part. Hardest things to remain enthusiastic. Fortunately, for most of us, youthful passion and help us through the first part.

The next problem usually occurs when the student has developed enough to play the rudiment and basic pattern with a certain skill level. At this point, training and the same pattern can become very monotonous. Although repetition is important for the development of skills, strength, and control, this activity could also be negative. Repetition can be so boring, so loosen the student's determination and interest evaporate.
To overcome this, the student should be exposed to challenging material. Although there are parts that need to be trained many times, but the spirit can be maintained if we always have something new as training material. In this way, repetition of skills developed and mind constantly stimulated with new ideas and materials. This is a nice balance.

  1. Always use the EAR PLUG (earplugs) to protect the ears from damage, and always use in training and performing. Now many drummers who have the disease tinnitus (ear buzzing) and until now there is still no cure.Spare your hearing.
  2. Get used to using the metronome tempo every time practicing so that you always stable.
  3. Play with RELAX, do not be tense and do not waste energy, there is no point.
  4. Always prepare STICK own more than one pair if you want to perform.
  5. Do not be too easily satisfied with the knowledge that you can. Try adding more knowledge by learning from the teacher of a different drummer or a more experienced friend.
  6. Do not be too fanatic on one or two genres of songs alone, it is this which can inhibit creativity and make your game the player becomes monotonous and boring. Try a variety of musical genres and try you can play the entire flow of the music.
  7. In the game should involve FEEL drum or in other words, should really felt, must not hit and do not ever think that the louder the better punches. That's wrong! And also do not think that the faster you play the more intense. Not really, violence and speed has nothing to do with musicality.
  8. Always practice of TEMPO is slow and if you are very familiar, increase the tempo slowly. You have to learn to walk first and then get away.
  9. LISTEN to the other musicians, do not just focus on yourself, listen to others.
  10. Be a CREATIVE drummer, give variation on every game that you can drum. Because the drum is still something 'new', there are many new variations that you can get.

Note: For EAR PLUG pharmacy you can buy it in large or in a store that sells military equipment. For each store musi metronome there, and look for a digital.

I set up like this, namely:
  • Put in place measures 13 tom toms 12 regular placed. (Tom 12 released)
  • Unplug the top cymbal boom stand (left foot) and put the top of the boom stand in place of usual tom-tom 13 is placed and find the most comfortable position

Rimshot

| comments

There are still many new drummers; even long playing drums beating do not know rimshot.

One day when I became one of the assessment team at the time of audition drum festival (music) in 2000, I saw 2 or 3 people playing with a drummer who was hit hard, but why the sound of his snare still no sound (sound and all, but sound slow and not sharp). And it seems he tried to hit hard the snare to be heard, but in vain. Then I saw that she was not using the technique Rimshot on his snare so that his voice was low and not sharp.
Many drummers are hard to find a good snare sound, to the extent that they replace the head, to tune the snare with different tension and even there is also to buy a new snare. They do not know the key to get the snare sound is sharp and nice ... that is Rimshot!
Actually it would not hurt you are not using a rimshot. Hitting techniques commonly used in country songs, pop. But if you play rock, fusion, funk, Latin, jazz and metal you need is you RIMSHOT!

This is the usual punch. End of the stick only hit the drumhead course, the resulting sound is less focused, especially if hit hard and fast the drumhead will be concave.

This is a blow Rimshot. Stick on the drumhead and the rim on the snare at the same time, so the resulting sound loud, full and sharp, with a blow like this then the drumhead, rim and the shell will be 'silent' so much character snare drum sounds. Get used to play using this technique. This technique is a must if you want to record. So, make it a habit to use this technique on every song that you played.
